■ Shinobu-kai (Anniversary of the founder's passing) 26/Apr. at Hombu Dojo *addmission :free
 Approximately 120 participants from Japan and abroad participated.
=== Greeting from Doshu ===

43 years have passed since Kaiso has passed away and 13 years since Kisshomaru-2nd Doshu’s passing. Today, through these films, I would like you to carefully watch their lifetime movement and make use of what you see in your training.
Three films were presented at the Shinobu-Kai. "Budo", shot around 1936, “Film of Kaiso and Kisshomaru Doshu”, shot around 1957 at the old Hombu Dojo, and “Aikido”, shot in 1975.

After the films, Tada Hiroshi, Hombu Shihan and Mr. Koto made speeches and the social-gathering began with Mr. Akanuma’s toast.

       *Shinobu-Kai, a traditional Aikikai ceremony, was held at Hombu Dojo, 3F, at 19:00 on 26th April.
- Impression of Anniversary of the founder's passing –

 I have been very glad to participate to the celebration of O Sensei in the Hombu Dojo. By watching those old movies, mostly unknown for me, I saw O Sensei as he was, and was deeply touched by his power, his light, his forms, the way he teached...It was very interesting for me too, to see Kisshomaru Ueshiba Sensei, his expression, the teaching I could imagine when he was bringing his students for a walk in a garden. This ceremony made me feel a strong link between the past and the present and I could feel the real kindness of all the people there, showing that Aikido spirit is an effective path to harmony.

 AIKI TAISAI (AIKI Shrine Festival) 29/Apr. 11:00~ at Aiki Shrine (Iwama) *addmission :free
 Approximately 1500 participants from Japan and abroad participated.
=== Greeting from Doshu ===

Last year the torii (shrine gate) and honden (shrine chamber) of this shrine and the dojo were damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Fortunately, these were repaired by the great support and cooperation of many people at home and abroad. I sincerely thank you.
As we focus on daily practice, I pray for the further development of Aikido, founded by Kaiso and spread by our seniors, including Kisshomaru 2nd Doshu, who devoted their life to this wonderful art.

AIKI JINJA TAISAI and a memorial service for Kaiso and Kisshomaru Doshu were held at AIKI Shrine in Kasama-shi (Old Iwama-cho), Ibaraki Prefecture. (100km North East from Tokyo)
This festival was hosted by the Aikikai Foundation until 2011 and hosted by the Ueshiba Family from 2012.

 50th All-Japan Aikido Demonstration 26/May 12:00~ at Nippon Budokan *addmission :free
 Approximately 7,800 Aikido practitioners from Japan & abroad participated, with an audience of 10,000.
=== The organizer greeting (Ueshiba Moriteru Doshu) ===

I am pleased that we are able to hold the 50th All- Japan Aikido Demonstration with such a large number of people here today at the Nippon Budokan. This is the biggest event hosted by the Aikikai Foundation and approximately 7,800 practitioners who are members of Hombu Dojo, of the registered dojos, and of enterprise clubs from all over Japan, can all take part together. The first demonstration was held at Yamano hall in Tokyo in 1950 with 180 participants. Since then, 50 years have passed and the number of participants has grown to 50 times that of the first one.
I believe that this is because of the greatness of Aikido founded by Kaiso, Morihei Ueshiba. We can never forget Kisshomaru 2nd Doshu when we think about the history of the All-Japan Aikido Demonstration. After World War II, when he worked to spread Aikido, he decided to open Aikido demonstrations to the general public. It’s not an exaggeration to say that his decision and effort led to the spread of Aikido to 95 countries. Kisshomaru 2nd Doshu, who devoted all his energy to the All-Japan Aikido Demonstration, would be happy to see that it has become such a big event.
We who have inherited this demonstration, have to not only make it big, but also make it rich and varied. I believe that everyone participating in today's embukai will show the successful results of our daily keiko with our whole heart.
In conclusion, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and to other relevant groups for their support.
